The Volunteer Committee is responsible for the overall direction and program of volunteers necessary to run the Lehigh Valley Sommerfest. This includes identifying the number of volunteers necessary for each site/job function at the event. The committee will provide recommendations with regard to volunteer requirements such as;
- The length of shifts;
- Volunteer uniform (t-shirt);
- Volunteer meals;
- Volunteer parking;
- Volunteer training;
- Volunteer scheduling; and
- Volunteer support.
The Volunteer Committee will work with the established Volunteer Application Form, assist in maintaining these forms and tracking our volunteers to assure the names will be recorded along with all pertinent information for consistent communication, training, and on-going involvement.
The Volunteer Committee can determine all and any restrictions with regard to volunteering based upon age, past criminal record, physical and mental capabilities, knowledge base, etc. The committee shall determine when volunteer training shall occur, who shall lead it, and what information individuals need to know to effectively complete their tasks.
The Chairperson of the Volunteer Committee shall assure minutes of all meetings are recorded and presented to the Lehigh Valley Executive Committee to effectively insure two-way communication. The Committee shall meet on a regular basis as determined by the Chairperson at a time and place appropriate for its committee members.
